Ralph Tiffin BSc FCA AMIMechE

 

Ralph Tiffin BSc FCA AMIMechE has a degree in Mechanical Engineering, qualified as FCA with Coppers & Lybrand.

Ralph is principal of his own chartered accountancy firm and registered auditors. The practice has a wide range of clients and Ralph deals mainly with the audit clients. He also acts as interim CFO of the rail division of an international consultancy.

Ralph provides consultancy for many companies in the UK and overseas on subjects ranging from applying IFRS, project appraisal, through to ethics and fraud prevention.

He is the author of a range of texts on accounting (guide to IFRS) auditing (ICAS audit manual) and project appraisal. He is a regular contributor to Croner-i CPD courses and publications.

Paul Gee BA (Econ) FCA

 

Paul Gee presents regularly on financial reporting under UK GAAP, full IFRS and financial reporting for medium-sized entities to accountants in practice and industry and commerce.

BA with Honours in Economics and Accounting, Newcastle University. Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales. From 1984-1989 Senior lecturer, subsequently Principal Lecturer, at Bristol Business School, part of the University of the West of England. From 1989 – 2011, Technical Director, Solomon Hare Accountants, then Associate Director in Smith & Williamson’s National Assurance Technical Group (following merger with Solomon Hare).

Paul was previously a member of the Financial Reporting Council’s UK GAAP Technical Advisory Group .

Paul joined the AIB course programme in 2010.

John Selwood ACA

 

John Selwood is a Chartered Accountant and independent training consultant, who lectures for major accountancy practices, professional bodies, training companies and publishers. John covers financial reporting, auditing, anti- money laundering and company law. Previously, he has been the technical partner for a top thirty firm of accountants and head of an accountancy network.  John is a member of ICAEWs Audit and Assurance Faculty’s Practitioner Services Board and has been involved with presenting and writing the material for the Audit & Assurance and Financial Reporting Faculty’s Roadshows for a number of years. He also regularly writes for Audit & Beyond and is the author of Core Auditing Standards for Practitioners.

Mark Owen, Solicitor

 

Mark Owen qualified as a Solicitor in 1987 and joined forces with the Peninsula Group of Companies in 2002, to assist with a wide range of issues associated with their ‘core’ services. Formerly a partner with Weightmans, a top 45 law firm, Mark set up his own firm to offer a specialised service, and since then has dedicated his time and expertise to the needs of the Peninsula Group and its clients.

For the past 16 years Mark has also been exclusively retained by Betfred to advise on legal and regulatory issues affecting its business. During this time Mark has advised on a number of high-profile transactions, including Betfred’s acquisitions of the Tote in 2011, and over 300 shops from Ladbrokes/Coral in 2016/17.Mark also has vast experience as a speaker, trainer and presenter, running workshops and seminars not just for Peninsula Group staff but also for its clients and prospects.

When not at work Mark can be found either exercising his RSPCA rescue Lurcher Tilly, or refereeing on a Saturday, enforcing laws of a different kind on the rugby pitch.

Amanda Chadwick

 

Based in North Wales - Amanda Chadwick is an experienced and well known speaker, specialising in all areas of employment law, Health & Safety law and employee wellbeing. Amanda has worked as a successful, presenter/broadcaster/ author for over twenty five years advising tens of thousands of business owners with everyday issues in employment and health and safety law, by representing at tribunal, mediating, mentoring, presenting, writing and blogging.

Amanda’s past has involved working in the media, developing KPI’s, driving businesses with personally designed incentive programmes, developing training packages, holding motivational conference’s and keeping business owners updated via her webinars and social media.

Amanda is proud to hold relationships with and speaks for many associations, charities, voluntary organisations, business federations and networking groups. It is with this work that she can be seen hosting award ceremonies, International Women’s day, speaking as an inspirational woman, heard on business radio slots and writing articles for business publications.

Dr Stephen Hill

 

Dr Stephen Hill, BSc (Hons), MLPI, CIIP, PhD is the Director of Hill Bingham Ltd and expert trainer and consultant with over 18 years’ experience providing services to the private and public sector in fraud (cyber) risk management, data security/protection and internet investigations and open source intelligence. He spent 11 years working for a top national firm of chartered accountants heading the Fraud and Forensic Group, advising clients on prevention, detection and recovery of fraudulent assets, working closely with the police, HMRC and private sector. He is a Trustee Director of Fraud Advisory Panel and chairs their Cybercrime Working Group with colleagues from the public, private, and third sectors. He is an honorary member on the steering committee of the London Fraud Forum, founder of Snowdrop Consulting and a director of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners UK Chapter. He has trained UK and European police forces, the National Crime Agency, Home Office, private-sector fraud units, not-for-profit organisations, and major world banks.

Mark Wearden MSc FCCA FCIS

 

Mark delivers consultancy projects through MBS Governance a private strategy consultancy, which he has run for the past 23 years, following 12 years in International Banking as an analyst, and 8 years in Industry as a finance director.

In addition to his client-focused consultancy, Mark is an experienced Non-Executive Director and an Audit Committee Advisor. He undertakes director and board mentoring, a range of academic work, and delivers public workshops, seminars and lectures for professional bodies, together with ‘in-house’ programmes for client organisations.

Mark is the strategy examiner and an assessor for ICSA final level exams, and a member of the judging panel for the ICSA annual reporting awards. He stepped down last year after two years as Chairman of the ACCA Global Forum on Governance, Risk and Performance.

Throughout his career, Mark has worked extensively with directors and senior managers from a wide range of different type and size of organisation, from FTSE 100 down and back again, giving him a challenging insight into the minds of the directors of corporate Britain. Mark specialises in strategic analysis and challenge, aligned with board and director evaluation.

Neeta Vora ATT, Tax Consultant

 

Neeta Vora ATT started her career with a top 10 firm providing tax efficient solutions to high net worth individuals and small and medium-sized businesses, Neeta joined CCH (now known as Croner Taxwise Limited) in 2015 from Accountax Consulting, where she had established an enviable record in successfully defending IR35 and CIS enquiry cases (and other contentious issues), achieving settlements with HMRC and avoiding cases being heard at First Tier Tribunal.

Neeta also handled a portfolio of clients which included those within the Construction Industry, Umbrella Companies, Agencies and Limited Company service providers.

Neeta has considerable presentation experience, delivering seminars, providing in-house training to companies and Accountants on various areas of her expertise (in particular IR35 and employment status). Neeta also provides representation at First Tier Tribunal.

Neil Tipping, Senior Tax Consultant

 

Neil Tipping is one of the Senior Tax Consultants on a multi-disciplinary team dealing with Full and Aspect CT and IT enquiries, all aspects of Employment Taxes enquiries including National Minimum Wage and written technical consultancy. Neil has worked in tax for over 33 years, starting in Customs and Excise and transferring over to the Inland Revenue. He has also worked in various practices including Grant Thornton and PWC and currently specialises in technical enquiry work providing either background advice or direct assistance to accountancy clients dealing with HMRC enquiries.
